Lady Plainsmen win at triangular match, fall to Sedgwick

The Lady Plainsmen have added two more wins and one loss to their current record of 11-9. They attended a triangular match in Stapleton, Neb. on September 30. Sandhills Valley and Medicine Valley also attended. They then played Sedgwick County on October 2. 

Sandhills Valley

Plainsmen defeated the Sandhills Valley Mavericks in two sets. The first set was a score of 25-21. The second set, the Mavericks faced the loss with a score of 25-17. 

The ladies used their skills to their advantage to win. Addison York and Ella Homan both had four kills. Macy Cole served two ace serves. Tessa Uehling fought to get eight digs and received 13 serves. 

Medicine Valley 

Perkins County’s winning streak continued as they played the Medicine Valley Raiders following their game against the Mavericks. Plainsmen took a strong lead in the first set, scoring 25-13. They continued their strong lead in the Second set making the score 25-15. Plainsmen earned the win in two sets. 

The ladies continued to put their skills to work Homan achieved six kills followed by York with five. Zoe Hansen served three ace serves. Uehiling received nine serves from the opposing team. 

Sedgwick County

The Lady Plainsmen hit the road on October 2, to Julesburg, Colo. to play the Sedgwick County Cougars. Despite the previous success, the Plainsmen faced a very strong, athletic team. They battled for three sets total however, the victory was the Cougars each time. The first set the Cougars dominated 25-12. Plainsmen tried to make a comeback in the second set, yet Cougars proved to be the stronger party. The score totaled 25-16. Lastly the third set was won by the Cougars 25-15. 

Next Action

Plainsmen will play in another triangular in Garden County on Tuesday October 7. Results for that will be in the next edition of the Grant Tribune Sentinel. They will then play Chase County Longhorns on the Plainsmen home court on Thursday October 9. The game is scheduled to begin at 5 pm.
