Boys medal three to take gold at SPVA XC

Waitley and Dietlein claim first and second

Gold, silver and seventh-place individual medals contributed to a first-place finish for the boys Perkins County cross country team at the SPVA meet held at Pheasant Run Golf Course north of Grant on Thursday, Oct. 4.

Caden Waitley placed first with a time of 17:31. Jaden Dietlein ran 17:54 to place second. Matthew Hahn captured seventh with 19 minutes. Evan Sestak was the final scorer, coming in at 16th with a time of 19:46. 

Varsity pushers Jarin Tines and Caleb Lagler finished 19th and 20th respectively, coming in just one second apart at 20:10 and 20:11. 

Lagler, Beau Wood and Carter Krajewski ran career personal bests. 

Hailey Snyder finished 15th place in the girls’ race with a time of 23:34.

Coach Paula Wurst said she was really pleased with all of the runners’ efforts. 

“The boys worked hard to earn that conference championship,” she said. 

Next action

Districts are on Thursday, Oct. 11 at Bridgeport. The girls’ race starts at 3 p.m., with the boys to follow.
