Coach Cole kicking off 10th season as head coach

The Perkins County Plainsmen begin their basketball season this Thursday in a home game against the Hershey Panthers.

Gearing up for the season are the team’s 15 athletes, as well as Head Coach Shawn Cole and assistant coaches Jeff Skeels and Brent Turner.

Shawn Cole celebrates a milestone this year, as it is his 10th year as the head coach of the Plainsmen. “My biggest take away is the relationships that have been built with players, coaches from other teams and people in this community.

“When I first started coaching I loved the competitive nature of the game. Always wanting my team to win. Now, wins are nice and that is what we want every time we step on the floor, but the relationships have come to be the most important thing for me. Getting to know the players and helping them along the path of life,” Coach Cole said of his coaching career thus far.
