Coach Potts and Plainsmen boys back on basketball court this week

The Perkins County Plainsmen are getting ready to suit up for the 2024-2025 basketball season with Corey Potts as their coach.

This will be Potts first year as high school head coach however he is not new to this group of boys. “I have coached this group of seniors since they were in the 4th Grade. The rest of the boys have gotten to know my style of coaching since I was the assistant coach during the 2021-2022 and 2022-2023 seasons,” says Potts. Taking assistant coach positions will be Ryan Potts and Micheal Lee.

Leading the team will be seniors Oscar Boldt, Maddox Lee, Markel Macke, Landon Noyes, Ryder Potts, Dawson Tjaden, and Jackson Wykert.

Juniors of the team include Myles Bishop, Colton Kroeker, and Rylee Schrotberger.

Sophomore members are Logan Barry, Alex Cole, Basile Cornet, and Emmanuel Kiogora.

Cade Kroeker, Luke Minster, Jared Mirales, and Porter Tjaden are joining the team as freshmen.

Potts plans to use the boys’ grit on the defensive end of the floor to his advantage this year.

He would like to see the kids open up to their ability to score on the offensive side of the floor as well.

“We have great depth this season and return a group of kids who all have substantial varsity minutes. These kids have played lots of hours of ball together and with the amount of leadership on the team we have strong potential for another great season. I would imagine you could see a different starting lineup and nearly every kid in a varsity uniform on the floor during any game,” Potts says.
