Cross country team takes to the hills of McCook

The Plainsmen took to a difficult course when they raced in McCook on Thursday, Sept. 17.

To prepare for the hills of Heritage Hills Country Club in McCook, coach Seth Burge had the team run the hills of Perkins County.

75 boys and 56 girls competed at the varsity level on Thursday from the 15 schools that were in attendance.

Colton Pouk finished in 10th place with a time of 18:25. Brient Wood completed the race with a time of 23:44, placing him in 60th. Keegan Sims ran a time of 27:35, finishing in 70th.

Meredith Gloy finished the girls 5,000 meter race in 28th with a time of 25:53. New runner, sophomore Alyssa Briggs, ended her first race of the season in 45th, clocking in at 28:10. Kiara Schulze finished the race with a time of 30:56, placing her 52nd.

The next meet for the Plainsmen will be in Ogallala Thursday, Sept. 24 at Crandall Creek Country Club. Races will begin at 3 p.m.
