Cross Creek Golf Links in Cambridge hosted the C-5 district golf invite on Tuesday, May 16, where at least 15 teams competed for their chance at a trip to state.

Perkins County finished with a score of 331, just 16 strokes more than the district winner, Kimball, who as a team shot a 315.

Individually, Josh Johnston earned the number three spot, after shooting a 75. Also making the top 10 individually was Tyson Patrick, who shot an 81, which was enough to put him in eighth place.

Only the top three teams would advance, and coming in as runner up was enough for the Perkins County Plainsmen team and their coach, Troy Kemling, to celebrate and begin preparing for the state competition. Joining them will be Kimball and Southern Valley, who took third with a team score of 339.
