Track season continues for eight Plainsmen at the state track meet in Omaha this weekend.
Bailey Schrotberger won the District C-11 title in the 100, as did the 4x400 relay team which included Schrotberger, Kiffen Cook, Domonic Wendell and Bryce Wilson.
According to NSAA disctrict qualifying times for the state meet, Schrotberger tied with two others for the second fastest time of the 24 runners in Class C. The relay team also had the second fastest time.
Wilson, Jaden Dietlein and Evan Sestak earned spots at the state meet by capturing second in the 400, 3200 and high jump respectively. Wilson’s time tied for the third fastest in Class C.
Alex Patrick, Charles Johnson, Schrotberger and Wilson qualified in the 4x100 with a second place finish and the second fastest time in Class C.
“It was as tough a district as we thought it would be. Things went about as good as we were hoping it to. Several of the athletes should do well at state and earn medals if we can get them to perform around their PRs,” said Head Coach Shayne Hite.
Events begin at 9 a.m. CT for Class C on Friday, May 19 at Omaha Burke Stadium.
Two school records were reclaimed or tied at the district meet.
The 4x400 relay set a new school record of 3:27.76. The previous 3:27.8 record was set by Tim Burge, Jay Wall, Josh Wall and Nathan Borowski.
Caden Waitley placed third in the 800 with a time of 2:04.87. He missed a trip to state by 3.6 seconds, but tied Drew Mayer’s school record set in 2007.
