Five in for girls golf

Girls Golf Coach Shawn Cole will field a full team of five golfers when the girls begin the season this week at Bayard Thursday. 

Cole said having a full team will help the girls push each other, both in practice and in meets. 

Cole said they are working on improving swing mechanics and consistency, along with overall golf skills. 

Four of the five are returners from last year’s squad. They include Kayton Brueggeman, Savannah Clark, Kayla Reichenberg, Emme Sims, all sophomores.

They will be joined by Sarah Cockerill, a freshman.

Cole said he’s looking for weekly improvement with a goal of lowering scores each week. 

He said the youth on the team raise some great expectations for the next three seasons.
