Girls golf team takes second at Kimball, Creek Valley meets

Girls golf Coach Rich Borman continues to see improvement in his girls in tournament action. 

He said the girls lowered their team scores in two meets, compared to last year, by 16 in one tourney and 59 in the other. 

At the Kimball invite on Aug. 31, the girls finished second of the three teams scoring. 

At Creek Valley Sept. 2, played at the Chappell course, the girls finished second out of four teams and were just 16 strokes off of first place Mitchell. 

At Kimball, Kayla Reichenberg led the Plainsmen with a 115 to finish 10th individually. 

The team finished with a 490. The other scoring for the Plainsmen included Emme Sims, 116; Sarah Cockerill, 129; Maddy Ingold, 130; and Emma Klahn, 134. 

At Chappell, three Plainsmen finished in the top 10 to earn medals.

Reichenberg was fourth with a 102, Sims eighth with a 119 and Ingold 10th with a 120. 

Katelyn Meyer finished with a 130 and Cockerill finished with a 132. As a team, the Plainsmen finished with a 471 compared to Mitchell’s 456.

The girls held a dual with Creek Valley at Pheasant Run golf course in Grant Tuesday. 

They travel to Benkelman for the Dundy County Stratton invite on Thursday, Sept. 16.
