Tuesday, April 18 saw 11 teams, including the Plainsmen, at the Pheasant Run Golf Course in Grant for the Perkins County Invite.

By the end of the day, the PCS team held the number one spot, with a score of 325. Second place went to North Platte St. Pat’s, who were 25 strokes behind with 250. 356 earned Paxton third place.

Individually, Josh Johnston was the top golfer with a final score of 79. Tyler Thelander followed behind by one stroke, with 80, earning him second place. Tyson Patrick shot an 82 that put him in fourth place and Michael Beck took seventh with an individual score of 84 strokes.

“It was a great day for us, to say the least. This is the lowest team score at Perkins County since I have been coaching,” said Coach Kemling.

Though four of his fourteen golfers made the top ten, Kemling noted that the experience of the day reached the entire team.

“It was also a great learning experience for us. For example, Carson was not playing particularly well through his front nine. After visiting with him, he was able to ‘reboot’ and start anew. He finished the back nine with his all-time low of 38 and carded an eagle on number 5 with a 140 yard hole-out! Perseverance pays off,” he said.
