Nebraska Wesleyan University has named Emily (Carlson) Holmes as the new women’s golf coach for the Prairie Wolves.

The Grant native was a three-year member of the women’s golf team at University of Nebraska-Kearney. She went on to earn her Bachelor of Science in nursing from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in 2012.

In high school, Holmes was a four-year member of the Perkins County golf team, helping the squad to two state tournaments. In 2006 she finished in a tie for 10th place at the Class C State Tournament.

Holmes has worked as a junior golf league camp instructor and coordinator for the past six years. She also works as a registered nurse at Bryan Health in Lincoln.  In addition, she is a medical/surgical RN in the US Navy Nurse Corps Reserve.

She is married to Eric Holmes, who was a tennis player and graduate of Nebraska Wesleyan. She is the daughter of Mike and Alyson Carlson of Grant.

The Nebraska Wesleyan women’s golf team finished 4th at the 2016-17 Iowa Conference women’s golf championships this past season. They are expected to return six letterwinners from last year’s team.
