The Omaha World Herald presented Charles Johnson, seen above carrying the ball, with all-state honors, and named him to the first team defensive squad for his efforts as quarterback in this last season. 

Johnson named to all-state team by Omaha World Herald

Perkins County senior Charles Johnson earned all-state football honors from the Omaha World-Herald for this season’s efforts. 

Johnson was named to the first team defensive squad in Eight-Man 1.

He also earned honorable mention in the Lincoln Journal-Star. 

Johnson and Domomic Wendell were among 96 players included in the Bobby Mills 1,000-yard club this season. 

Johnson finished with 1,201 yards with Wendell gaining 1,03 yards. 

Perkins County was one of only seven schools who had two 1,000-yard rushers in their backfield. 

Several other Plainsmen received honorable mention recognition from the state’s two largest papers. They included: 

Omaha World Herald: Colton Heinemann, Jack Kennicutt, Domonic Wendell, Tyson Patrick.

Lincoln Journal-Star: Colton Heinemann, Charles Johnson.

All-district football

Six Plainsmen received all-district recognition in the D1-10 voting by coaches.

Johnson was named as the all-district quarterback. Wendell received running back honors.

Tyson Patrick was listed at defensive end and Jack Kennicutt as a defensive tackle. 

Colton Heineman, offensive line, and Tanner Burge, linebacker, earned all-district honorable mention recognition. 

All-state volleyball 

Four Lady Plainsmen earned honorable mention recognition for their play this season. 

They included:

Omaha World Herald: Aryn Seiler, Kadie Hanson, Jessica Klingelhoefer.

Lincoln Journal Star: Kadie Hanson, Jess Klingelhoefer, Sydney Wilson.
