Lady Plainsmen beat Kimball for a 1-3 record

Lady Plainsmen were challenged with playing the Haxtun Bulldogs as well as the Kimball Longhorns last week. 

After a hard fight, Plainsmen lost to Haxtun in overtime with a score of 56-60. 

However, they came back with a great win over Kimball a few days later with a score of 54-44. The girls record is currently 1-3.

HAXTUN

The Lady Plainsmen had an exciting game against Haxtun where they went into overtime. The Plainsmen fought to win however Haxtun proved to be too strong. In the first quarter plainsmen scored 18 points, followed by the second where they scored 8. After halftime, they came back ready to go basketing 17 points. In the fourth quarter they had 8 points which led them to have to go into overtime where they scored 5 points. In the entire game, the team had 29 rebounds. 8 were offensive and 21 were defensive. Plainsmen also had 14 assists, 12 steals and 2 blocks. Senior Libby Cole led the team with 7 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 steals. Sophomore Maddison Potts scored 20 points, which was most out of the team. “At times we handled Haxtun’s height well and at other times they got the best of us.  Kudos to the girls on coming from behind and forcing OT.  In the end, our foul trouble limited what we were able to do,” said Head Coach Deanne Bishop. 

KIMBALL

The Lady Plainsmen traveled to Kimball later in the week. There they won 54-44. Scoring the most points was Sophomore Maddison Potts with 24 and right behind her was Sophomore Ella Homan with 18. Plainsmen had 35 rebounds, 17 assists and 7 steals. Cole leads the team again with 11 rebounds and 3 steals. Junior Hannah Bishop had 5 assists. “We got off to a quick start.  Our ball pressure forced a number of turnovers for transition looks,” said Coach Bishop.  On December 17 the team will travel to Paxton to face the Tigers.

Next Action

The Lady Plainsmen faced Paxton on Tuesday, Dec. 17, and will head to Dundy County-Stratton on Dec. 21 for a 4 p.m. competition. 

The Perkins County Booster Club Holiday Tournament will be held on Tuesday Dec. 31 and Thursday, Jan. 2.
