The Perkins County girls golf team faced both weather delays and strong competition last week, taking the course at Ogallala on September 23 and at Bridgeport on September 25.

At Crandall Creek Golf Course in Ogallala, the Lady Plainsmen got in 13 holes before storms forced the meet to be called off. With the round shortened, no final scores were recorded.

Bridgeport

On Thursday, the team traveled to Courthouse & Jail Rock Golf Course in Bridgeport, where both golfers showed steady improvement. Senior Jacqueline Gloy turned in a solid round, highlighted by a strong finish on the back nine, while teammate Lexi Fisher improved her score by six strokes after the turn, showing growth and consistency as the postseason nears.

Head coach Georgie Geisert praised both players’ efforts. “At Bridgeport on Thursday both girls played really well. Jacqueline had her power putt on 18 that closed out her round with a score of 90. It was very exciting as the lead went back-and-forth all day with the Mitchell golfer. Fisher greatly improved her score and shot six strokes better on the back nine. I feel like we are peaking at the right time as districts are just one week away.”

The Lady Plainsmen now turn their attention to the district tournament on Monday, October 6, at Crandall Creek Golf Course in Ogallala, where they’ll look to carry their momentum into postseason play.
