The Lady Plainsmen kicked off their season on Sept. 3 with matches against Brady and South Platte.
“The girls came into the week with our first home matches of the season on Tuesday and I think that nerves played a little into our game against Brady,” Coach Monica Cole said, adding “Once we settled in, the girls bounced back after that game and competed well against South Platte.”
The Lady Plainsmen lost 1-2 in their match against Brady, and turned around and beat Brady in two sets.
“On Thursday night we hosted North Platte St. Pat's and that game is always one of those that we enjoy playing for the competition aspect. The girls gave everyone their money's worth at that match and us coaches are proud of their grit, their determination, their belief and their confidence in that game.
“We ended the 5 set match with 66 kills on the night and that doesn't happen unless we have good distribution of the ball from our passers and setters, so all around, it was a great team effort for the night. The energy in the gym with all of the crowd noise makes a huge difference too, so thank you to all who attended,” Coach Cole said. The Lady Plainsmen won that match 3-2, taking their overall season record to 4-1.
Tuesday, September 10 the PCS volleyball team hosted Hitchcock County(1-4) and Wallace(6-0), and will take on Arthur County (4-2) in a home competition on Monday, Sept. 16 at 4:30 p.m. See next week’s issue for results .
