The Perkins County Lady Plainsmen hosted the Sedgwick County Lady Cougars on Thursday, Jan. 26.

The 5-7 Lady Cougars were able to get in the first shot but a pair of baskets from Maggie Earl gave the Lady Plainsmen an early 4-2 lead.

A foul drawn by Sedwick County sent them on a nine oint run that included two treys, before Claire Maaliao ran the ball down the court for a lay-up to break the streak.

The Lady Cougars hit another basket and 3-pointer, but a foul drawn by Earl saw her add the final point of the first, leaving the Lady Plainsmen down by nine, the score was 7-16.

The second period saw the PC defense hold Sedgwick County to just two points, which came in the final minute of the quarter, after PC had gone on a seven point run which included three free throws from Maaliao, two from Earl and a basket by Sydney Wilson. At half time, PC trailed by just four points, 14-18.

A 3-pointer in the first seconds of the third by Maalio, followed by a basket from Wilson was enough to give PC the lead by one, 19-18, until SC drew a foul and tied the game.
