Lady Wildcats finish third at DCS Invitational

Wallace’s Lady Wildcats finished third at last week’s Dundy County-Stratton Invitational. The boys and girls competed against seven other teams at the meet on Monday, April 3. 

The girls relays had a successful run, finishing first, second and third in the 4x100, 4x400 and 4x800 respectively. 

Placing in the 200 were sophomore Jayden Widener in second and senior Maggie May in third. 

In addition to May, other girls finishing third were juniors Hannah Nelson in the 800 and Shelby Ogier in the discus, and sophomores Lexi DeCent in 100 and Peyton Messersmith in the triple jump.

Taking fourth, fifth and sixth in the long jump were Nelson, senior Madisen Messersmith and sophomore Meredith McCoy respectively. 

Sophomore Micah Swedberg brought home two firsts, in the 400 and high jump. 

The 4x800 relay finished in second place.

The teams will compete against nine other schools at the Sutherland Invitational on Thursday, April 13. Field events will begin at 1 p.m. CT with track events beginning at 3 p.m.
