PC’s Aaron Fay looks to take the ball to the net, but has to get past the handsy Irish defense.

Ninth annual pink-out games scheduled for Thursday in Imperial

With the holiday break behind them, the boys got back to business on the court last weekend with two games on the road.

Friday, Jan. 4 saw the boys compete with North Platte St. Pat’s, and the next day the boys traveled to Sutherland to battle the Sailors.

Two losses took the Plainsmen record to 4-6.

NPSP

The first game back after their break wasn’t going to be an easy one no matter how prepared the Plainsmen were to return to the court. North Platte sat at a 5-5 record going into Friday’s game, and they of course wanted a win.

St. Pat’s did allow the Plainsmen offense to put up eight points, however, they ended the first with nearly double the score, a 15-8 NP lead.

The pace continued in the second when the Plainsmen saw NP add 12 to their side of the board, while adding just eight for PC. At halftime North Platte was in the lead 27-16.

The second half of the game continued to be a battle for the Plainsmen and ultimately they fell to St. Pat’s 35-63.

Junior Alex Patrick was the top scorer of the game for the Plainsmen with 12 points, while freshman Triston Hite had the second most points with eight. Aaron Fay dominated the team’s rebounds with eight.

Sutherland

PC headed to Sutherland coming off a loss in North Platte the day before and their motivation to win was evident in the first period of action. In a bit of a back-and-forth, the Plainsmen at one point were up by 12-8 but let the lead slip away when they allowed Sutherland to take the score to 15-12 by the end of the first.

The Sailors offense continued to drill the net and the defense held the Plainsmen to 10 points in the second period. PC trailed by 10 at half time, 32-22.

Perkins County couldn’t get the ball to fall in the third, while Sutherland’s offense saw 15 points go up.

Each team added six points in the fourth and it was Sutherland with the 53-31 victory over the Plainsmen.

Patrick was the top scorer of the game with 10 points, followed by senior Spencer Ross who contributed eight. Fay led the team in rebounds with eight.
