The Perkins County girls’ basketball team took losses in its first two games, but the Plainsmen can now cross two of their toughest opponents off their schedule.

PCS Head Coach Deanne Bishop said Hershey and Bridgeport have tall, talented teams and her Perkins County players worked hard in both games.

The Plainsmen put up plenty of points in their loss to Hershey Thursday 61-94.

Eight players scored in the first quarter of the game in Hershey helping PCS put 32 points on the board. Although the Plainsmen couldn’t slow down the Panthers, their offense continued to find success and scored another 29 points.

Kailee Potts led the way with 29 points. Meredith Gloy pulled down eight rebounds.

PCS returned home for its game against Class C1 #2 Bridgeport.

The Bulldogs’ press gave Perkins County fits and never let the Plainsmen settle into their half court offense.

Bridgeport went to the post in the first half of the game, then opened it up from behind the three point line in the second half.

Potts led PCS with 12 points in the 27-93 loss. Seven players scored in the game.

Libby Cole led the Perkins County with seven rebounds. Potts pulled down six boards.

Up next

Bishop said PCS will take what it learned from last week’s games and improve for future games.

The Plainsmen hosted Haxtun, Colo. Tuesday before taking on 0-2 Kimball Friday.

Another Tuesday match up is on the schedule for next week when PCS will head to 2-0 Paxton.
