Perkins County boys finish runner-up at SPVA track

The PC boys took runner-up at the SPVA track meet at Sidney on Friday, April 27.

Sophomore Alex Patrick cleaned house in all his individual events, taking first in the 100, 200 and 400.

Sophomore Evan Sestak took second in the high jump, third in the 300 hurdles and fourth in the 110 hurdles.

Senior Charles Johnson took third in the 400 and long jump and fifth in the 100.

Junior Caden Waitley placed fourth, fifth and sixth in the 3200, high jump and 800 respectively.

Other point contributors for the boys included Matthew Hahn in the 1600, Jaden Dietlein in the 3200, Colton Heinemann in discus, Jack Kohl in triple jump and the 4x100, 4x400 and 4x800 relay teams.

For the girls, Freshman Miah Long and Senior Jaci Kurkowski took silvers in the 800 and shotput respectively.

Senior Hailey Snyder placed fourth in the 200, 400 and triple jump.

Other point contributors for the girls were Hannah Kempf in the 100 and the 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams.

Coach Shayne Hite said the team performed as well as expected.

“For the boys we were looking for a runner-up finish and they did. The girls we were just working on improving more and trying to beat at least one team in the team standings and we did.”

He said it’s hard to score a lot of points with only 10 girls, but if they can improve on numbers and get stronger they’ll be ready to compete next season.
