Perkins County Plainsmen fall to Southwest in final District game

A couple of wins over Hemingford and Kimball sent the Perkins County Plainsmen to the final district game in North Platte against Southwest, where they were unable to pull out the win, ending their 2016-17 season with a 14-11 record.
Hemingford
Sidney hosted the subdistrict game where the Perkins County Plainsmen played against the Hemingford Bobcats on Tuesday, Feb. 21.
Hemingford was able to put up the first point when they drew a foul.
Bailey Schrotberger hit the net to give PC an early lead, however it was the Bobcats who made the next two baskets.
Josh Johnston hit the basket and shortly after, drew a foul where he put up another two points from the free-throw line which tipped the score back to PC’s favor, 6-5.
Hemingford made two more shots before Johnston put one in for PC.
A foul allowed the Bobcat’s two free throws, however with just over one minute on the clock, Miles Lagler added a basket to give PC 10, trailing by just one.
A Bobcat bucket with the and one had Hemingford up by four.
Charles Johnson hit the basket and drew a foul, making his extra shot, before Hemingford drew a foul and made the free point.
With about twenty seconds left in the first, Derek Sis found the basket, tying up the game 15-15 at the end of the first.
Michael Beck was at the basket for PC in the first minute of the second half, but Hemingford answered to keep the game tied, now 17-17.
