The Perkins County football team was hitting on all cylinders Friday when it rolled to a 71-18 win over Kimball.

The Plainsmen scored on each of their six first half possessions. Casey Hanson and Dawson Tjaden each scored three first half touchdowns before sitting out the second half.

Defensively, PCS held Kimball to only 16 first half plays.

After a slow start against Bayard Sept. 8, PCS Head Coach Tanner Collins said he was happy his team came out and got going from the start after reminders at practice.

“We played a clean game with no turnovers also,” he added.

With the clock running through out the second half, the Plainsmen JV players held Kimball scoreless in the third quarter and traded touchdowns with the Longhorns in the fourth quarter.

Collins said he thought the JV guys did a much better job stepping in and making sure they did their jobs correctly.

“It is big for our program to get those young guys so many reps on a Friday night. That is how we build the future of the program,” Collins said.

Perkins County will host Sutherland (1-3) Friday.

Despite the Sailors’ record, Collins expects a tough game.

“They won’t come in here and just lay down for us. They will be ready to go. If we can keep running the ball like we have and sustain drives offensively and keep flying around on defense like we have, we will be just fine,” Collins said.
