Perkins County volleyball wins one of three tournament matches
The Lady Plainsmen competed in the South Platte Valley Association volleyball tournament held in Grant Saturday.
The girls won one of three matches, defeating Kimball, but losing to Sutherland and Bridgeport.
Their first game was against Sutherland, where they lost in two sets — 25-19 and 25-20.
They were often neck and neck with Sutherland for most of the match, but were unable to close out either set.
Meghan Bishop led the team in kills with six against the Sailors. Rylee Huff had four digs and 12 assists, the most of each for Perkins County in this match.
Next, they played Kimball who they defeated in two sets — 25-23, 23-25, 25-18.They narrowly dropped the second set but came back with the 25-18 to win the match.
Against Kimball, Bella Fraizer had 14 kills. Kiara Schulze led the team with four aces. Bishop provided the most digs for the team at 12. Huff had a whopping 35 assists, and Juels Lyon led Perkins County in service receptions with 22.
The Lady Plainsmen’s final game of the day came against Bridgeport. Perkins County fell in two sets — 25-16 and 25-22.
Frazier again led the team in kills, this time with six. Huff and Bishop each provided five digs for the Plainsmen.
After the SPVA tournament the team’s season record is 2-23.
The girls’ final game of the regular season was Tuesday, Oct. 22 in Kimball. Look for results in next week’s paper.
The girls enter subdistrict play in Ogallala on Oct. 28 and 29.
