The Perkins County football team’s season came to an end at home Thursday with a 18-42 playoff loss to Ravenna.

PCS came into the game as the seventh seed at 5-3. Ravenna was the 10th seed with a 6-2 record.

PCS received the ball to start the game and moved down the field on a 10-play drive that was capped by an Ethan Sihm 16-yard screen pass from Dawson Tjaden.

Ravenna was quick to erase Perkins County’s 6-0 lead when the Bluejays scored and made their two point conversion on their first possession of the game.

PCS fell behind 6-14 with another Ravenna touchdown in the second quarter, but a Sihm five-yard touchdown run with 3:41 left in the half cut into the deficit. Unable to convert the extra point, the Plainsmen trailed 12-14.

The wheels fell off Perkins County’s wagon in the closing seconds of the first half.

Ravenna scored with 31.6 seconds in the half to increase Perkins County’s deficit to 12-22. The real dagger came on the Plainsmen’s next drive with a fumble on their first play from scrimmage. The Bluejays recovered and scored another touchdown with seconds left to leave PCS trailing 12-28 at halftime.

PCS fell farther behind in the third quarter with another Ravenna touchdown around four minutes.

Tjaden scored for PCS in the fourth quarter on a four-yard run, but the Bluejays wrapped up scoring with an interception return to end Perkins County’s season with an 18-42 loss.
