Plainsmen boys place second at SPVA

On a windy Friday, April 26, the Perkins County boys took second at the SPVA conference track meet. 

The three golds of the day went to Jaden Dietlein in the 3200, Beau Wood in the shot put and the 4x800 relay team. 

Claiming silvers were Alex Patrick in the 100 and 200, Matthew Hahn in the 1600, Evan Sestak in the 300 hurdles and the 4x400 relay team. 

Sestak also took third in high jump, along with Caden Waitley in the 800. 

Wood took fourth in both the 300 hurdles and discus. Spencer Ross and Emilio Perez took fifth and sixth in shot put respectively, and Ross took sixth in discus. 

The 4x100 relay placed fourth. 

Hailey Snyder and Kiara Schulze were the lone medalists for the girls. Snyder placed second in the 400, third in triple jump and fifth in the 200. Schulze placed fourth in 300 hurdles.

Next action

The Best of the Midwest meet scheduled for Tuesday, April 30 was cancelled due to weather. 

The team will compete in their last meet before districts at the Dundy County Stratton Twilight Meet this Friday, May 3. Field events will begin at 12:30 p.m. and track events will start at 2 p.m.

Due to extenuating circumstances, the E. Lee Todd home meet originally on the schedule for this Saturday, May 4 will not be taking place.
