The Perkins County Plainsmen football team traveled to Bridgeport on September 19, where they faced a tough Bulldogs squad and came up short in a 58–6 loss.

Bridgeport, one of the top teams in the state, controlled the game early with a powerful offensive attack and strong defensive stands. Despite battling injuries and illness throughout the week, the Plainsmen continued to fight through all four quarters and found the end zone once in the matchup.

Head Coach Brendan Geier credited Bridgeport’s talent while also noting the effort his team put forth. “We played a very good Bridgeport team. They are one of the most talented teams in the state. We battled injuries and illness throughout the week, but I thought our kids played hard for all four quarters. We missed a couple opportunities throughout the course of the first half. Our kids are excited to get back on the practice field and get better for the homecoming game on Friday,” Geier said.

The Plainsmen will return to Perkins County High School on September 26 for their homecoming game against the Sutherland Sailors, with kickoff set for 6 pm. Geier emphasized the importance of preparation going into the matchup. “This week we play Sutherland for our homecoming game. They are a very big, talented team. We are going to need a great week of practice and show improvement in order to be successful on Friday,” he added.
