Plainsmen Wrestlers compete at Bayard Invitational

The Perkins County boys wrestling team traveled to Bayard, Nebraska, on January 23 to compete in the Bayard Invitational, facing a strong field of competitors from across the region.
Several Plainsmen earned top finishes on the day, led by sophomore Carson Green, who captured first place in the 132-pound weight class. Green wrestled with confidence throughout the tournament, earning the championship with a dominant performance.
Senior Ryan Long also had a strong showing, placing third in the 157-pound weight class after battling through a tough bracket. Junior Dylan Bruce added to the team’s success with a fourth-place finish at 175 pounds.
Underclassmen continued to gain valuable varsity experience at the invitational. Freshman Leighton Fryzek placed fifth in the 106-pound weight class, while fellow freshman Orion Knowles finished seventh at 150 pounds.
NEXT ACTION
The Plainsmen will return to action on January 30 when both the boys and girls wrestling teams travel to Medicine Valley High School for a meet beginning at 9 a.m.
