Pouk takes second at SPVA race
Perkins County hosted the SPVA cross country meet at Pheasant Run Golf course last Thursday, Oct. 8.
Coach Seth Burge said the team had an advantage because they are able to run on their home golf course all season.
“They know the slope of the hills, where they are going to get tired, so they can strategically plan accordingly,” Burge said.
He said it was helpful to have as much fan support as the team had Thursday, and expressed his thanks to the nearly 30 community volunteers who helped make this meet a success.
A special thanks goes out to the Perkins County volleyball coaches and team for being there to support the runners, Burge added.
The boys race had a total of 33 runners from seven teams.
Colton Pouk finished the race in second place with a time of 18:45. Keegan Sims finished with a time of 26:34 in 32nd place.
Meredith Gloy was the only runner for the girls, and competed against 28 other runners.
She ended the race in 12th place with a time of 25:50.
While none of Perkins County’s runners achieved a personal record during the SPVA meet, the team continues to race strong.
