Pouk in top 15 at Kearney, SPVA next

The Perkins County cross country team raced in Ogallala and Kearney over the last week, and will soon host the SPVA race in Grant.

Coach Seth Burge said the meet in Ogallala on Thursday, Sept. 24 was one of the most competitive and warmest meets the team has had so far this year, and the team did great.

103 boys and 77 girls turned out to Crandall Creek Country Club in Ogallala.

Colton Pouk finished 10th with a time of 18:10. Brient Wood ran the course in 22:27, placing him in 81st. Keegan Sims finished in 101st place with a 28:51 time.

Meredith Gloy was the only runner for the girls team at Ogallala, and she finished 53rd with a time of 26:48.

Next, the team traveled to Kearney on Monday, Sept. 28 for the UNK Cross Country Invitational at the Kearney Country Club. For Class D, 219 boys and 160 girls were in attendance.

Pouk finished the race in 11th place with a time of 18:28. Wood finished the race with a time of 22:07 in 114th place. Sims placed 198th with a time of 26:43.

As a team, the boys finished in 23rd of 36 schools with 253 points.

Gloy was again the only girl running for Perkins County, and she finished the race in 53rd place with a time of 24:47.

Next Action

Perkins County will be hosting the SPVA race at Pheasant Run Golf Club on Thursday, Oct. 8 starting at 4 p.m.

After SPVA, the only races left for the cross country team are the district and state meets on Oct. 15 and 23.
