Wallace will begin their first ever season of spring golf on March 30, when they attend the Paxton Invite at the Ogallala West Winds course at 9 am MT.

Coach Terry Fowler said, “Golf came about last spring when several community and board members were discussing the possibilities of starting the program. The administration sent out a survey and at that time we had fourteen students who showed interest.

The next step was to find someone who would consider coaching.  I have been playing golf for several years and was approached about coaching, again. I have coached basketball, volleyball and track, but never golf.”

Typically, it is boys golf season but the girls will be allowed to participate, as Wallace doesn’t offer girls golf in the fall.

“Our goals for this first season is to just learn the game, concentrate on fundamentals (like all sports) and create an interest that will carry over for life,” said Fowler, who’s wife, Kathy, will be joining him as an assistant coach.

“We are entered in six meets, plus district and state. The kids and I are excited, and we look forward to a new learning experience,” said Fowler who added. “Bailey, Logan, Nate and Caden have all played some golf. The girls have not.”

The first ever Wallace golf team includes:

Seniors: Maisie Kennicutt.

Juniors: Bailey Kennicutt, Logan Rosentrater, Nathan Manary, Caden Williams.

Sophomores: Emily Kennicutt.

Freshmen: Haley Lundvall.
