Senior night caps off regular season for Lady Plainsmen

In their last regular game of the season, the Lady Plainsmen hosted the Creek Valley Storm on Tuesday where they put up a hard fight to the bitter end.

The first period saw the Lady Plainsmen hold the Lady Storm to just three points, while they added five to their side of the board.

The PC girls continued in the second, putting up six more, however, Creek Valley outscored them with seven. At halftime, PC held the lead 11-10.

The Lady Plainsmen defense held Creek Valley to just two points in the third, while they put up five to keep the lead 16-12.

The Lady Storm opened up in the fourth and outscored the Lady Plainsmen 17-11, which was enough to give them the win by two, 29-27.

As the regular season came to a close, Head Coach Katie Geitz shared some of her thoughts on the team’s progress, “The beginning of the season was rough. Playing state-caliber teams every weekend with essentially a freshman team is rough but the girls kept their heads up and powered through even the toughest situations.

“We have become more of an offensive threat and our defense has done a great job. As the post-season comes up we are looking to hone in on our defense skills and become more organized on offense. We take each day, week and game step by step and skill by skill in order to build this program into the best it can be.”

Full stats of the Creek Valley game were unavailable at press time.
