PC senior Charlie Johnson, the games top scorer, takes the ball to the basket over the Sutherland defense.

Split week takes Plainsmen season to 5-4

The cancellation of the Holiday Tournament left Plainsmen fans twiddling their thumbs for nearly three weeks, but alas, the Plainsmen were back on the court last week.
Parent’s night was held on Friday Jan. 5, when the Plainsmen hosted the North Platte St. Pat’s 6-4 Irish.
Then on Saturday, the 2-4 Sutherland Sailors came to town.
North Platte St. Pat’s
A high energy game from the beginning, NPSP was first at the net with one of several three-point shots they would make in the evening. However, Josh Johnston had the answer for the Plainsmen.
Two good free throws from Spencer Ross, a basket in by Charlie Johnson, and Johnson with a steal resulting in a basket by Johnston had PC up 9-5.
Ross and Tyson Patrick hit the net, and another three from Johnston saw PC up 16-11 at the end of the first quarter.
A seven point run for the Irish tipped the board in their favor, until Johnson drew a foul and put up a free shot, and was followed by one in the bucket from Alex Patrick for a one point Plainsmen lead.
North Platte hit a trey and Johnson was hit with a technical foul, which allowed two free shots for the Irish, putting them back on top 23-19.
Before the half, Johnson had two good free shots, Ross added a basket, and a triple came from Johnston but PC trailed 27-30.
