Swedberg earns fourth place medal at state track

The Wallace Wildcats competed in seven events at the NSAA State Track and Field Meet on Friday and Saturday, May 19-20, bringing home a fourth place medal in Class D. 

Boys

Sophomore Micah Swedberg claimed that medal in the 400 finals with a time of 51 seconds. He took second in his heat with a time of 52.64 in the preliminaries. 

Swedberg also competed in the high jump, clearing 5-8 to tie for 13th. Junior Jared Sullivan jumped 38-03.25 to finish 22nd in the triple jump. 

Seniors Tyler Daniels and Robbie Nelson joined Swedberg and Sullivan in the 1600 relay where they placed sixth in their heat and 14th overall with a time of 3:45.4.

Girls

Sophomore Peyton Messersmith jumped 29 feet in the triple jump to finish 18th. Junior Hannah Nelson finished 21st in the long jump with a jump of 15-00.5. Senior Maggie May finished seventh in her heat of the 200 preliminaries with a time of 29.31. 

Messersmith and May were joined by Senior Madisen Messersmith and Sophomore Jayden Widener to compete in the 1600 relay, which they ran in 4:25.5 to finish fifth in their heat and 13th overall.
