Three medal at Broken Bow

Perkins County wrestlers traveled to Broken Bow on Friday, Dec. 21 for a make-up meet that had been rescheduled due to weather. 

Three grapplers medaled to earn the team a seventh-place finish. 

Beau Wood claimed the gold in the 195-pound division to remain undefeated at 7-0. After pinning his first opponent in 39 seconds, Wood beat 13-1 Evan Fisher of Chase County by 10 points, 11-1. He pinned 12-1 Lance Cattin in 1:25 in the championship match. 

In his first meet of the season, Emilio Perez walked away with second place in the 285-pound division. He pinned his first two opponents in the first period, but was pinned by 11-2 Drew Drake of Broken Bow in the championship match. 

In the 220-pound division, Brandon Knoles went 2-2 to place fourth. 

Next action

The team will take a break until Thursday, Jan. 3, when they host the Perkins County Invite, beginning at 5:30 p.m. The Garden County Invite follows on Jan. 5 at 9 a.m.

182—Deitrik Brueggeman (3-6) lost by fall to James Hargett (Southern Valley) 14-4 (Fall 0:58), lost by fall to Kaden Vincent (Gordon Rushville) 6-9 (Fall 2:34).

195—Beau Wood (7-0) received a bye, won by fall over Trey Warner (Ord) 3-6 (Fall 0:39), won by major decision over Evan Fisher (Chase County) 15-2 (MD 11-1), won by fall over Lance Cattin (Chadron) 12-2 (Fall 1:25) placing first and scoring 25 team points.

220—Brandon Knoles (7-5) won by fall over Alex Flessner (Ord) 3-6 (Fall 0:55), lost by decision to Keifer Anderson (Broken Bow) 10-7, won by major decision over Colton   Donason (Ogallala) 3-8 (MD 13-4), lost by fall to Nathan Hofrock (Sidney) 12-7 (Fall 3:00) placing fourth and scoring 10 team points.
