“We had a really good day Saturday I thought. It was kind of a double-edged sword by moving our meet. We had better weather but didn’t have as many teams. The weather is helping in many ways. One, it’s helping get our kids in shape faster, both in the meets and at practice. No wind is allowing us to get more PR’s. Saturday the boys had 26 PR’s while the girls had 30. Not having as many teams allowed some of our younger athletes to place and earn medals where as in a larger meet they may not. We had two meet records set and one school record broken. Mason M. broke the meet record in the 800m dash with a time of 1:58.55. The previous record holders were Mark Perlinger of Paxton and Max Lindgren of Ogallala with times of 2:00.0. The boy’s 3200m relay team of Eli G., Brock T., Rylee S., and Mason M. broke the meet and school record with a time of 8:08.35. The previous record holder for the meet was Ogallala with a time of 8:25.9 back in 1990. The school record was held by Brock, Rylee, Colton K., and Mason from last year.  I told the kids this was our last tune-up meet. Now things get a lot tougher so we need to keep working hard in practice and getting better each week. We are starting week 6 today so the rest of this season is going to go fast,” said Hite.
