Matt Lungrin set a Wallace school record on his way to a fourth place finish at Thursday’s Medicine Valley Invite.

Lungrin shot 46 out and 40 in for an 86, setting the school record for low score at an 18-hole tournament.

Also on Arrowhead Meadows Golf Course were Riley Strawder and Chase Martin.

Head Coach Rich Lee said Lungrin hit the ball well.

“He had a couple of holes that got him on the day. We talked about those things and how he could be shooting in the 78-82 by fixing those little things,” Lee said.

Riley Strawder finished at 142, which Lee said is near where he was last week.

“I think this is a little tougher course so even though the number stayed the same he did improve,” Lee added.

The invite was Martin’s first high school golf tournament.

Martin finish with a score of 157.

Lee pointed out that each Wildcat golfer shaved off strokes on the second nine holes, including Strawer shooting 12 better and Martin knocking off 15 strokes.

Up next

Lee expects more improvements from all three golfers before Friday’s Southwest Invite at Cambridge.

Wallace will have a quick turnaround and head to Ogallala on Monday to make up the postponed Paxton Invite.

“So we have two meets before we head to Alma on April 27 for the RPAC Tournament. It will be fun to see where the boys will be at that point,” Lee said.

RPAC will be held in Alma.
