Wallace cross country team successful at UNK

The Wallace cross country teams participated in two invitational over the past week.
On Monday the Wildcats ran in the University of Nebraska at Kearney Invitational. The Class D men’s race ran first at noon CT. Ryun Sheets ran in the Class D men’s race and finished 156th with a time of 22:17.64.
Trey Robertson, ranked first in Class D, jumped up to the more challenging Class A men’s race. Robertson finished 18th in the Class A men’s race with a time of 17:04.95. His time was good enough to win Class D, finish fourth in Class C and ninth in Class B. Carson Noecker of Class C Hartington Cedar Catholic had the best time at the invite, 14:51.0.
The Class D women’s race followed the Class D men’s race. Ashley Robertson was the first of the Wallace women across the finish line, earning 18th place with a time of 22:12.39. Ryleigh Hanson was the next Wallace lady, finishing 22nd with a time of 22:49.29. Dajana Garrison crossed the finish line in 30th position with a time of 23.07.93.
As a team the Lady Wildcats earned fifth place with 61 points. The winning team was Hemingford with 17 points. Fourth place team was Homer with 48 points. Third place team was Nebraska Christian with 48 points. Second place team was Doniphan-Trumbull with 47 points.
On Thursday, Sept. 29 the Wallace cross country teams ran in the Gothenburg Invitational.
In the men’s 5000 meter varsity run, Trey Robertson finished first with a time of 17:18, 24 seconds ahead of the second place runner, Noah Osmond of Broken Bow with a time of 17:42. Ryun Sheets finished 55th with a time of 21:28.
In the women’s varsity 5000 meters, Ashley Robertson earned fifth place with a time of 22:40 in a dead heat with McCook’s Brecken Bale, who also had a time of 22:40. Dajama Garrison was 11 seconds behind Brecken in seventh place with a time of 22:51. Ryleigh Hanson was six seconds out of earning a medal in 21st place with a time of 23:49.
Wallace’s next run will be the Republican Plains Activities Conference meet hosted at the Heritage Hills Golf Course in McCook on Thursday, Oct. 6.
