Wallace Lady Cats go 1-2 last week

The Lady Wildcats won one of three games this last week, bringing their record to 2-2.

They first faced Sandhills Valley at home on Tuesday, Sept. 3. The girls fought hard throughout the close game, winning the first set 25-19 but then falling 19-25 in the second set.

While Sandhills Valley stayed close, Wallace took the last took sets 25-22 and 25-23.

Coach Elizabeth Hock said the girls played good defense, but need to continue working on playing with confidence.

Freshman Karlie Finley led kills with 10.

At a triangular in Arnold on Thursday, Sept. 5, the Lady Cats faced South Loup and Mullen.

They lost a tough game to South Loup in two sets, 11-25 and 13-25.

“South Loup has tough hitters and we gained some experience tonight. We did not communicate as well as we have in the past few games, and our defense struggled,” said Hock.

She said their struggles continued with Mullen, who also had aggressive hitters.

“We were quiet and did not play the defense we are capable of.”

Wallace lost to Mullen in two sets, both 13-25.

The team played Tuesday in a triangular at Trenton against Perkins County and Hitchcock County.

They’ll play South Platte in Big Springs on Thursday, Sept. 12 and Sutherland in Wallace on Tuesday, Sept. 17.
