Volleyball

The Lady Wildcats faced Brady and Maywood/Hayes Center in a triangular Tuesday, Sept. 25. 

Brady won in two sets: 17-25 and 11-25. Emma Schanou led service aces with 12.

Maywood/Hayes Center won in two sets: 15-25 and 16-25. Emma Berry led service aces with seven and Haley Lundvall led digs with six. 

The team played won the third set against Leyton on Friday, Sept. 28, but didn’t come out with the overall win, Scores of the four sets were 17-25, 9-25, 25-23 and 20-25. 

Coach Elizabeth Hock said they were proud of the way the girls competed and came back. “We were down 5-17 in the fourth and almost got it.” 

Natalie Marquardt and Brooke Schanou led service aces with 17 and 16 respectively. Quinn Koop led kills with five and Hailey Brooks led digs with 13.

The team will host Paxton on Friday, Oct. 5 for parents’ night. They will travel to Garden County for a triangular on Monday, Oct. 8.

Cross Country

The team competed at the Gothenburg meet on Sept. 27. Mariah Gardner placed 40th with a time of 23:34. Brianna Juarez placed 76th with a time of 26:19. Hannah Robertson placed 80th with a time of 26:30 and Emily Kennicutt placed 109th with a time of 29:15.

In the boys’ race, Aidan McClintock placed 92nd with a time of 20:54. Jackson Sinsel placed 115th with a time of 21:44 and Camden McConnell placed 194th with a time of 28:38.

The next meet will be RPAC in Southern Valley on Thursday, Oct. 4.

Football

For the second week in a row, this time on homecoming night, the Wallace Wildcats forfeited their game against Leyton due to injuries. The next scheduled game for the Wallace team is a home game against Paxton on Friday, Oct. 5 at 7:30 p.m. CT.
