The season opener for the Wallace volleyball was a tough one.

Cambridge, 4-0 after the first week of games, swept the Wildcats last Thursday.

Wallace fell behind by three early in the match, but bounced back to tie the game at 7-7. The Wildcats were within three points, 9-12, before Cambridge closed out the match. Wallace dropped the first set 17-25.

The Wildcats fell behind early and were never able to recover in a 11-25 loss in the second set.

Both teams were able to hold serve early in the third set. Wallace held a 6-4 lead and trailed 8-9 before Cambridge started to pull away. The Wildcats lost the evening’s final game 16-25.

Kendyl Flaming led Wallace with 11 kills on 0.296 hitting. Kaley Sauser totaled 14 assists.

The Wildcats can also build on a nice night from the service line where they finished at 95.6%.

Wallace Head Coach Krystal Sauser said it was good to see what her group could do against a talented Cambridge team.

“Our girls played hard and we weren’t disappointed in their overall play. There is always plenty to work on and we are excited to learn from this and continue to get better,” Sauser said.
