Wallace volleyball season comes to a close
The Wallace Lady Cats completed their volleyball season at subdistricts last week, adding one win and a loss to their season. They completed the year at 7-19.
Wallace girls scored their first win of the season at their very first game against Medicine Valley 3-2 on Aug. 30.
They then moved on to defeat Sandhills Valley 3-1 just three days later. This was their second game of the season and they were off to a great start.
They suffered a couple of losses in September to Mullen and South Loup, but made a comeback when they defeated Perkins County 2-1. Later that month they went on to beat Sandhills/Thedford as well 3-0.
The Lady Cats managed to win against Paxton in three of four matches they competed in against the Tigers. They were victorious on Sept. 24 2-0, Oct 8. 2-1, and in their first game at subdistricts on Oct. 28 3-0.
Wallace fell to Wauneta-Palisade during their second round at subdistricts, ending their season. This was the final game for seniors Sydney Pelster, Quinn Koop and Hayley Lundvall.
Overall, the team gained seven victories over the season, and the team played hard to win nearly a quarter of their matches.
This season, the team as a whole totaled 570 kills, with Finley leading with 135.
Pelster led aces with 46 over the season, and the Lady Cats together achieved 135.
For digs, the team fought for a total of 1,293 and Finley again led with 272. Pelster was close behind her, having 251 digs this year.
The Lady Cats together totaled 786 serves received. Pelster led individually with 205, and Finley was not far behind with 176.
