Wildcat track teams get first meet under their belts

The Wallace track teams are off and running in their 2023 season.

The Wildcats were at the UNK Indoor Meet Friday.

Wallace won 10 Class D events.

For the boys, Carson Glunz won the 55-meter dash and Kyler Flaming claimed the 55-meter hurdle title.

Trey Robertson swept the 1,600 and 3,200-meter runs.

Wallace girls ran away with the distance events. Ryleigh Hanson won the 800-meter run. Kaley Sauser led three Wallace top-10 finishers with a win in the 1,600-meter run. Ashley Robertson topped her third place finish in the 1,600-meter run with a victory in the 3,200-meter run and teammate Dajana Garrison was only 0.01 behind her.

Besides team wins in the 1,600 and 3,200-meter relays, Wallace also got a first place finish from Kendyl Flaming in the 55-meter hurdles.

Other athletes placing in multiple events were Brooke Bryant, Mallory McConnell and Eliana Robertson.

The Wildcats will be at the Hi-Line Quad Thursday in Elwood.

A preview of the Wallace track team, as well as Perkins County, Chase County and Wauneta-Palisade, will be included with next week’s paper.
