Wallace’s volleyball team didn’t drop a set last week, sweeping four-straight opponents to move to 4-1 on the season.

Wallace thumped Arthur County (3-2) at home to start the week, 25-16, 25-15.

The Wildcats jumped out to a 6-0 and maintained the comfortable advantage throughout the match. Skyler Kuhlman led Wallace on a eight-point run, which included four aces, in the first set win. Set two was much the same with Kendyl Flaming leading a late six-point run.

Wildcat Head Coach Krystal Sauser complimented Karlie Finley for her amazing game attacking, finishing with 12 kills in 18 swings,

The evening also included a sweep of Sandhills/Thedford (3-3), 25-22, 25-21.

A seven-point serving run by Reagan Pelster opened up an 11-6 lead for the Wildcats in the first set. Flaming ended the set with five-straight points. Wallace trailed 7-10 in the second set before taking control.

Sauser said the match saw a lot of momentum switches throughout game, but the Wildcats were able to keep calm and take care of business.

The week of sweeps continued Friday with two set wins over Hyannis (1-6) and Sandhills Valley (1-4).

Playing at Sandhills Valley, Wallace beat Hyannis 25-10, 25-12 to start the night. The match saw 13 Wildcats play at least one set.

Sauser said the girls had an amazing hitting night.

“They were able to connect with the setters throughout the whole night,” said Sauser.

Although SV put up a good fight in the first set, 25-22, Wallace ended the night with a 25-13 win.

After the win over Hyannis, Sauser said her team got complacent in the first set and let SV back into the match.

Three aces by Sauser gave Wallace a 6-0 lead, but the advantage was whittled down to 22-20 before the Wildcats won.

“I was pleased with the way the girls stayed calm and continued to play to their potential in the second set,” she added.
