Wildcats fall to Tigers

Mother Nature once again interfered with the basketball schedule; Wallace was supposed to have hosted South Platte last Thursday, but the weather caused the game to be cancelled. On Friday the Wildcats took a trip to Paxton to do battle with the undefeated Tigers.

The game, on paper, looked to heavily favor the Tigers but Wallace went to compete and made a game of it. Paxton clearly had the height advantage and the Cats spent the opening quarter working out ways to adapt.

The Tigers controlled the quarter, scoring eight of their 13 points on put backs. Wallace was held to a Ty Maline trey, two free throws by Jared Sullivan and a Micah Swedberg jump shot to make it a 13-7 game.

The Wildcats were very much in the game and they stayed right with the Tigers in the second quarter. In spite of the height issue, the Cats were able to get an inside game going. Blake Pelster started things off with a basket off the glass. Later he and Swedberg each added a put back and Maline tacked on another 3-pointer.
