Wrestlers medal 2 at Garden County; team takes 3rd in Perkins Co. quad

Perkins County wrestlers kicked off the new year by hosting Garden County, Chase County and Cambridge in a quad meet Thursday, Jan. 4, and competing in the Garden County Invitational Saturday, Jan. 6.

Head Coach Dustin Stodola said Saturday’s tournament at Garden County was one of the best tournaments they’ve wrestled as a team all season. Even though the Plainsmen had only two placers, several others were only one win away from placing in the top four.
“Overall, it was a great team effort and a great start to the new year,” added Stodola.
 Beau Wood won the 182-pound division with three pins to maintain his undefeated status for the season.
At 145 pounds, Jace Wid came through the back door to take fourth place. He lost his first match, but then won four straight, including his last one in a 1-1 ultimate tie breaker. Because he had already wrestled five matches for the day, he was forced to forfeit the third-fourth-place match.
