With the deadline to be taken off the ballot past, Grant City Council candidate Chase Sauder is requesting voters not to vote for him.

In a letter to the editor, Sauder explains that due to a job position change, he will not have the time to devote to the position that he knows will be required to move the city forward.

Out of six candidates in the May primary, Sauder received the third most votes to be one of four to advance.

Candidates vying for the two open seats in the November general include incumbents Andrea Brueggeman and Darrell Pierce and newcomer Edward Dunn.

The deadline candidates could remove their name from the ballot was Sept. 4.
