An out-of-control “bobsled” with (l-r): Trevor Laber, Miguel Castillo and Ryan Long nearly collides with onlookers at the Perkins County Middle School seventh and eighth grade Olympiad organized by HAL (High Ability Learners). The group has chosen several skill-testing competitions to be presented throughout the week. Monday’s event was the ski jump;Tuesday: bobsled; Wednesday: biathlon and Thursday: hockey. Hand made bronze, silver and gold medals will be presented to individual winners on Friday, with the winning class scoring a candy prize.

School encourages reading with book fair, photo display, reading contest

The annual Scholastic Book Fair was held the week of January 31 before and after school Monday-Wednesday and noon-7 p.m.
