Boys and Girls State selections, (l-r) Jordan Mireles, Joe Malmkar, Jeb Kohl, Hayden Foster, Kylie Tucker, Emme Sims, Meghan Bishop and Hallie Fisher were recognized during the Veteran’s Day program at the high school Thursday, Nov. 11. The girls were given the opportunity to share their experience with Girls State, such as how the event worked virtually, what they learned and people they connected with.

Last week will be a memorable one for the members of the Perkins County Plainsmen football team as they prepared for their quarterfinal appearance in the D1 playoffs. The team, student body, parents and fans gathered for a pep rally and bonfire at the Tharp’s lot Thursday night. The rally followed a “Welcome to Fansville” theme, mimicing the Dr. Pepper commercials seen on college football Saturdays. Here, young Callum Mayer, son of Brad and Shelby Mayer of Grant, “flipped” over the Plainsmen team’s success this season as the team looked on.
