By Becky Uehling | Grant Tribune-Sentinel The old outfield wooden fence on the south ballfield in Grant has been replaced with chain link by Koop Vinyl Fence and Construction, Inc. According to City Superintendent Edward Dunn, the fence is approximately 540’ in length, 6’ tall. Two gates were also replaced. The cost of the fence was estimated at $15,000.00. The final invoice is yet to be received by the city, Dunn said. A sizable and generous donation from the Perkins County Community Foundation Fund in the amount of $3,500 sincerely helped in moving this project from a dream to a reality, he said. The second to last step for the new fence will be adding the yellow fence cap that goes on the top of the fence to protect the ballplayers from potentially gouging themselves while going after a catch, Dunn said. This will be purchased and installed by the City as soon as available. The final step will be seeking local businesses banner advertisements to hang on the fence, Parks and Recreation Director Brittany Brott and Dunn will be seeking these solicitations in the very near future so that they can be hung up by next ball season, he said.
