Plainsmen lean on unity, experience entering new-look season

The Perkins County cross-country team for the 2026-27 school year includes (front) Rodolfo Aragon; (second row, from left) Ethan Swesey, Savannah Miller, Maddison Potts, Haylea McGreer and Logan Barry; (third row) Kruz Franklin, Leighton Fryzek, Jesus Marquez, Kayleen Juardo, Alyssa Laber and Hanna Colglaizer; and (fourth row) Logan Pittman, Austin Kraus, Eric Swesey, Christian Fryzek and Miles Knapp. According to the Perkins County Schools calendar, the Plainsmen will open the season Sept. 3 at the Irish Invitational at River’s Edge Golf Course. The team will compete at the Chase County Invitational on Sept. 10, McCook Invitational on Sept. 17, Ogallala Invitational on Sept. 24, UNK Class D Invitational on Sept. 28 and Gothenburg Invitational on Oct. 1. Perkins County will host the SPVA Cross Country meet Oct. 8 at Pheasant Run Golf Course. Class D district competition is scheduled for Oct. 15, with the state championships set for Oct. 23 at Kearney Country Club. Dates and times are subject to change.
